- 1 round loaf rustic bread
- 2 tbsp pesto
- leaves from 1 small head butter lettuce
- 3 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- 180g whole mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
- 10 thin slices ham
- 220g oil-packed roasted red peppers, sliced
Slice the loaf of bread in half width-wise. Carefully remove most of the doughy center from both the top and bottom. (You can use this bread for breadcrumbs or dumplings.)
Spread the pesto on the bottom piece and layer the lettuce leaves, tomato slices, cheese, ham, and peppers over the surface.
Cover with the top piece of bread. Cut the sandwich into 4 wedges and serve.
